FAQs

Can I keep my existing email address?

Yes. However we provide you with advanced anti-spam (junk mail) filtering, forwarding and content filtering on our mailboxes so switching is up to you. You get your very own sub-domain E.g. anthing@you.vnworks.net with a generous number of email address options.

How much does it cost?
The charge is £185 for installation (payable on connection) - this covers the installation of the aerial, wireless/ethernet converter and associated cabling. The special introductory offer is £99 for customers who sign up within the first month of operation and who already have a connection to the original system.

The monthly charge is £29.50 (inc VAT) irrespective of the number of computers you are running.

Payment is made by standing order and the initial contract is for one year.

How do I pay?
Monthly, by standing order.

What do you install?
We typically install the following to ensure you have a reliable connection.

A small receiver antenna at roof level, our installers will advise the best location for this. (It is smaller than a paperback book)

A wireless receiver/Ethernet converter, located close to the antenna (usually mounted on the same pole).
An Ethernet cable to connect the wireless receiver to an internal termination point. This is likley to be where you computer is located.

A power adapter that connects to the cable to supply power to the receiver. This also connects to your computer's Ethernet port.

You will also receive a welcome letter with your log-in, e-mail and website details, if you ask your installer for these services (they are free).

Do you provide me with email addresses and webspace?
Yes - you can have up to 10 email addresses and at least 50Mb of webspace where you can host a website or use it for file storage. If you need more we can provide it at very reasonable cost.

If you have an existing email account you can most likely use this over the broadband connection – you will need to confirm any conditions that your current ISP has in place.

Do I have to have 'line of sight' to the 1st broadband access node?
Yes, there does have to be a clear line of sight between the wireless receiver mounted on your property and one of Village Networks' transmitting (node) points. We will check this when we start your install.

Over more than four years and hundreds of installations, we've not been beaten yet!
